Expose people involved, give stringent punishment: Wani

Srinagar, Oct 23 (KNS): As per already announced programme the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) leaders Monday held a protest demonstration under the leadership of its Abdul Qayoom Wani against the incidents of braid chopping.
According to EJAC statement, the Central leadership gathered at Pratap Park holding play cards and banners protesting against the braid chopping of mothers, daughters, sisters in the state especially in valley.
Wani termed the braid chopping incidents in the state especially in valley as shameful and regrettable, where the ladies mothers, sisters, daughters are seared and these “shameful incidents have confined them to their homes and everyone feels insecure”.
The braid cutting incidents have not only affected ladies but everyone is mentally traumatized and till now nobody has been arrested despite repeated incidents, he said.
Wani urged the government that in view of the gravity and seriousness of the incidents, the culprits be punished to ensure the safety and dignity of ladies.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said the respect and honour of mothers, daughters and sisters is dearer to them than their lives.
“Any sacrifice would be given to protect their honour and modesty,” Wani said and strongly appealed the general public and youth to display discipline and prudence while dealing with such incidents so that innocents are not affected as that would directly benefit the culprits.
Wani said that examination of girl students is going on but the girl students hesitate to come out of their homes and parents have to accompany them which is a grave concern for not only ladies but for parents as well.
He said that in case such shameful acts are not curbed, that will seriously effect on future of girl students and their educational career shall be marred. The peaceful protest was attended by State Leaders of EJAC. (KNS)
