Eid preparations are on in full swing in the Valley which is resulting in a huge rush of shoppers everywhere in the markets of Srinagar. Eid will probably be celebrated on Saturday.
A huge rush of shoppers could be seen today in the markets of Kashmir Valley as the residents here have started preparing for the Eid-ul-Fitr that will be celebrated on Saturday or Sunday depending upon the crescent (moon).
According to KNS correspondent, the festive fever seems to have gripped the people ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr as shops in the markets were crowded with the shoppers buying variety of items. The hustle and bustle was quite evident and people in large numbers including men, women, kids could be seen busy in buying garments, kids wear, hosiery, crockery, food items including bakery, confectionery and several other essential commodities.
The scene at the busy city center Lal Chowk was quite different. The place was certainly wearing a festive look as people in huge numbers were swarming along the shops and stalls.
On the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr shops dealing with kids wear, toys, firecrackers etc. witness a brisk business. The enthusiasm among the children for the festival was quite apparent. Large number of children were seen accompanying the elders for buying clothes, toys, firecrackers etc. Many shopping outlets particularly the ones dealing with clothing and kids wear have come up with discounts on purchases.

Also, a number of stalls displaying clothing, accessories, jewelry, kitchen wear toys etc. were put up along the roadsides in Lal Chowk. The stall owners said they expect a brisk business on the day of Arafa.
Meanwhile, due to the immense shopping rush traffic police had a tough time in regulating the smooth flow of vehicular traffic. Although traffic diversion has been implemented along Regal Chowk however the large number of vehicles and slow traffic movement resulted in traffic mess.
As the holy month of Ramzan is coming to an end Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated on Saturday July 18 across the state of Jammu and Kashmir depending up on the sighting of the crescent.
The bakery and sweet shops across the Srinagar city observed a huge rush of customers. The shops witnessed a brisk business since early morning as people standing in large queues could be seen waiting to buy different varieties of bakery items.
The confectionery and bakery shops were crowded with people buying sweets and cookies. According to bakery shop owners the bakery business increases manifold on the eve of festivals particularly Eid.
At the city centre, Lal Chowk people in huge numbers were seen thronging the prominent bakery and sweet shops. These shops have been decorated with different varieties of delicious sweets, pastries, cookies, cakes, biscuits and deserts. (KNS)
