Srinagar, Dec 24 (KNS): Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi ?, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him (PBUH), was Thursday celebrated across Kashmir Valley with thousands of devotees thronging the Hazratbal Shrine which houses the holy relic of the Prophet ? of Islam.
The Srinagar city including Habba Kadal, Fateh Kadal, Khankahi Moulla, Khanyar, Rajouri Kadal, Ali Kadal and commercial-hub Lal chowk was decorated with banners and flags displaying ‘Kalimaye Tawheed’. The people on the roads leading to Shrine and other Masjids were seen distributing ‘Basil’ (Kand Sharbat), the traditional drink of Kashmir.
Various religious, social and business communities had erected banners on roads and shops greeting people on the occasion while local traders decorated the markets and announced discount on various items.
Amid biting cold, thousands of devotees across Kashmir thronged Hazratbal shrine, where the main congregation was held, to have a glimpse of the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad ?.
Devotees offered Salaat-uz-Zuhar as well as Salaat-ul-Asr here after which the Holy relic was displayed by its custodian at the shrine.
The devotees got emotional and raised their hands for prayer reciting Quranic verses while having the glimpse of Holy relic of Prophet Muhammad ?.
Devotees throughout the Valley remained engaged with prayers at Masjids and Shrines. During the day various religious and social organizations organized Islamic programmes and Milad processions were taken out across the State where speakers highlighted various aspects of the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ?.
Special prayers were also organised at Jenab Sahab Soura, Asar-e-Sharif Shahri Kalashpora, Lal Bazar, Khanqah-e-Maula, Ziarat Hazrat Dastgeer Sahab (RA), Syed Yaqoob Sahab (RA) Sonwar, Khawaja Naqshband Sahab (RA) and Ziarat Makhdoom Sahib (RA).
Special prayers were also held at Masjids and shrines in Islamabad (Anantnag) mainly at Jamia Masjid Reshi Sahab, Khiram Sirhama, Kaba Marg, Dooru and Seer Hamdan.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Devotees from far flung areas of the Valley had arrived at the shrine Hazratbal last night in order to offer morning prayers.
However, most of the devotees said that the arrangements put in place by the Waqf Board were disappointing.
Some of the devotees complained about insufficient arrangements made by Waqf Board at Hazratbal. “It is the first time in my life when I am seeing such kind of negligence’s by Waqf Board here,” said Ghulam Qadir, an elderly among devotees.
Other devotees who used their ‘Pheran’ (A traditional Kashmiri dress) and other outer wear for offering Salaat, also expressed anger and anguish over the negligent attitude of the Waqf and demanded stern action against the officials responsible for it.
Special arrangements were put in place by Traffic Police for smooth movement of people to and from the shrine. Besides private and public transport, State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) had made arrangements for carrying devotees. Divisional administration had made arrangements of security and other necessary facilities.
Meanwhile, similar processions were reported from Rajouri, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Pulwama, Shopian, Tangmarg, Anantnag, Beerwah, Kangan, Sumbal, Hajin, Jammu, Bhaderwah and other places.
Moulana Abdul Rashid Hami, the senior member of Karwan-e-Islami, led a huge Milad procession fr5om Budgam to Murshid Nagar Tergam Shaadi pora via uptown Srinagar and threw light on the life of Prophet Muhammad ?.
A huge Milad procession was also carried out at Bhaderwah in which hundreds of devotee’s participated.
On the occasion, the people took out procession from the Historical Jamia Masjid Bhaderwah which passing through various roads and streets of Bhaderwah town and accumulate back at Jamia Masjid, where various prominent Muslim Scholars (ulemas) made their speeches and threw light on the teachings and working of Prophet Mohammad?.
