Srinagar, Sep 11 (KNS): The holy festival of Eid-Ul-Azha was celebrated by the Army and local populace of Gurez Valley on 10 Sep with befitting solemnity and fervor.
Even during the ongoing unrest in Kashmir Valley, Gurez has remained peaceful due to the strong bond that exists between the people and their Army. The existing bonhomie propelled Eid celebrations with a large number of people gathering for the festivities at Rana, Dawar, Niru and Baraub.
Over 1000 children from Madrasas, Army Goodwill Schools and remote areas were given composite gift hampers consisting of snacks, stationery items and toiletries by the Army.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe celebrations were spread throughout the day wherein, towards the evening, sumptuous meals were organised at different locations for over 1500 people.
The large attendance and jubilation at the event indicated the efforts put in by Army for Awaam and this goodwill gesture has further strengthened their bonds.(KNS)
