Srinagar, Aug 18 (KNS): The Ecotourism Association of Kashmir (EAK) on Wednesday called upon Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to implement stronger environmental safeguards across the Union Territory, emphasising that the region's fragile ecosystem forms the bedrock of its tourism economy.
In a representation to the Lt Governor, EAK President Sameer Baktoo pressed for stringent enforcement of No-Polythene Zones, enhanced protective measures for vulnerable hill stations, and a renewed focus on promoting responsible tourism practices.
"Kashmir's environment is the foundation of our tourism," Baktoo said, as per an official statement. "Protecting our natural heritage is synonymous with securing the future of Kashmir's tourism industry.

Baktoo, who has been at the forefront of advocating sustainable tourism in the valley, reaffirmed the Association's commitment to promoting eco-friendly and responsible tourism across Jammu and Kashmir .
The appeal comes amid growing concerns over environmental degradation in popular tourist destinations across the region. The Ecotourism Association has been actively involved in various workshops and programmes aimed at developing ecotourism infrastructure and creating awareness about sustainable practices among tourists and stakeholders .
