Srinagar, Apr 10 (KNS): A 6.8-magnitude earthquake Sunday jolted Kashmir, forcing people out of their homes.
The epicentre of the quake was Peshawar area of Pakistan “The quake was felt in Pakistan, Kashmir and parts of north India,” reports said.
According to Geological Survey of India, “The quake measuring 6.8 struck 39 kilometres WSW of Ashkasham in Afghanistan.”
Meanwhile, two residential houses were also damaged in two different areas due to earthquake.
A residential house of Muhammad Hussain Wadda resident of Agha hamam Habba Kadal was damaged while a residential house of Abdul Rashid Dar, son of Ghulam Rasool Dar of Tantraypora Palhallan was also damaged in the earthquake that jolted Kashmir on Sunday afternoon.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Meanwhile, reports said that the wave of tremors that shook the Hindu Kush regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan may have lasting impacts on the topography of areas as far afield as Islamabad, a media report said on April 9.
The region was shaken on Friday by at least four distinct tremors, ranging in intensity from 3.3 to 5.3, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the strongest of which was felt in parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa such as Malakand and Swat.
According to reports, in Laal pora area in Lolab village of Kupwara district, a Masjid in the area was also damaged due to the earthquake. (KNS)
