During evening relaxation in shutdown;

Traffic jams irk commuters

Srinagar, Nov 30 (KNS): Lal Chowk and its adjacent areas on Wednesday evening witnessed traffic jam as the movement of private vehicles largely increased during the evening relaxation in shutdown by separatists.
The relaxation came into effect from 4pm.
Commuters had to face tremendous hardships due to the massive traffic jam in the city-centre areas.
Witnesses said that vehicles in large number were seen stranded in a traffic jam in commercial Hub Lal Chowk, Regal Chowk, Jahangir Chowk and Batamaloo.
The traffic jam worsened by wrong parking on the roadsides in these areas.
Commuters told KNS that from Aawrini Batamaloo it took their half an hour to reach Jahangir Chowk. “There were several private traffic car owners who had parked their vehicles on roads thereby worsened the gridlock,” they said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They said that the private car owners who park their cars on the roadsides must face action. “They must be challaned so that they could stop leaving others to suffer in future,” they demanded.
Commuters said that there are a few traffic cops on roads and cannot tackle the huge rush of vehicles. “Besides, the traffic signals are also lying defunct, which further worsen the traffic jam,” they said.
They said that almost every citizen wants to take benefits of evening relaxation in shutdown but they usually remain stranded in traffic jams and hardly succeed in buying essentials during a few hours. (KNS)
