Drug peddler held in Bandipora, contraband substance recovered: Police

 
Bandipora, June 24 (KNS): Continuing its drive against drug peddlers, Bandipora police on Friday arrested a drug peddler at Sheikh Mohalla area and recovered contraband substance Charas and illicit liquor bottles from his possession. 

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), acting on a specific information, police Party of Police Station Bandipora led SHO under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Bandipora laid a surprise Naka at Sheikh Mohalla and two persons were found roaming in suspicious conditions.

The statement reads that on being challenged they tried to escape and entered a house where one was apprehended and other escaped from the spot.

“The arrested person has been identified as Mohmmad Shafi Sheikh son of Mohammad Shabaz Sheikh of Sheikh Mohalla and search for the other accused person namely Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh son of Habib Ullaha Sheikh of Sheikh Mohalla is going on. During search Charas weighing about 70 grams, 04 illicit liquor & 03 Beer bottles were recovered,” it reads. 

It reads that a case FIR No 110 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Bandipora and further Investigation has been taken up.

“General Public is requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law,” it added. (KNS)
