Kulgam, Dec 13 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in Kulgam district.
In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said during naka checking at Bhatipora Damhal Hanjipora a suspicious movement was noticed and person was apprehended tactfully.
The statement reads on questioning he revealed his name Mohd shafi wani S/O Gul Mohd wani R/O Gandwani.
“8 Kg of popy straw was recovered from his possession. A case FIR no 138/2022 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act registered in Police station Damhal Hanjipora and investigation has been taken up,” it reads.
It added the locals hailed the police and said that it is a welcome step that the district police has taken the commitment to end the addiction. (KNS)
