Drug peddler along with 12 grams of brown sugar held in Handwara: Police

Handwara, Dec 18 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered 12 grams of brown sugar from his possession near Wangam-Kralgund area of Handwara in Kupwara district.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that its continuous efforts and war against menace of drugs Handwara Police today arrested one drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kralgund.

The statement reads that a police party of Police Station Kralgund conducted patrolling in its jurisdiction and during patrolling on Baramulla-Handwara highway near Wangam Kralgund the patrolling party apprehended a suspected person who disclosed his identity as Abdul Hamid Sheikh son Abdul Rashid of Kachloo.

It reads that during his search 12 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered and accordingly he was taken to Police Station Kralgund for further investigation.

“A case FIR NO. 78/2021 U/S 08/201 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and investigation has been taken up. The accused is said to be a hardcore drug peddler who is supplying drugs among youth of the area.”

It reads that the war against drug menace will continue to make the society drug free. 

“People in general have hailed the efforts of Handwara police in curbing the menace of drugs. Handwara police appealed to the general public of the area to share all information about the social evils so that timely action can be taken againt the culprits,” it reads. (KNS)
