Pulwama, Oct 21 (KNS): The Drug Controller of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday visited Pulwama as part of an anti-drug awareness campaign, urging chemists to strictly follow guidelines while dispensing medicines that carry a risk of misuse.

The programme, organised under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, focused on preventing the misuse of habit-forming medicines and strengthening responsible practices among local chemists.

During the awareness drive, chemists were sensitised about the need to dispense medicines strictly in accordance with prescribed regulations and maintain proper records of drugs that could be misused.

Participants were encouraged to ensure rational dispensing of medicines and comply with regulatory requirements, particularly while handling drugs with potential for dependence.

The initiative also sought to increase community awareness about substance abuse and the role of healthcare professionals in preventing it.

Officials emphasised the importance of responsible pharmaceutical practices as part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug abuse across Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
