Srinagar, Apr 19 (KNS); Stepping up its enforcement drive under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Drugs Control Department on Tuesday suspended the operations of three medical establishments in Srinagar for multiple violations of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
An official spokesperson said the action was taken during a series of inspections led by Assistant Drugs Controller Reema Gizala. The team comprised Drug Control Officers Shaila Farooqi, Zulfikar Ali, and Ashraf Khanday, along with field staff, who conducted checks across several city localities.
The inspections were aimed at ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, particularly concerning the sale of prescription drugs, maintenance of Narcotic (NRx) records, and issuance of cash memos to customers, the spokesperson added.

While most establishments were found to be adhering to the required norms, the official said three outlets were found violating regulations, including failure to maintain NRx registers and not issuing cash memos. Consequently, their operations were suspended on the spot.
The department reiterated its commitment to enforcing regulatory standards and curbing the misuse of prescription drugs. It warned all stakeholders to strictly follow legal provisions, asserting that any violations would attract stringent action.
Officials added that such inspection drives will continue as part of the concerted efforts to build a drug abuse-free society under the Centre’s Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. (KNS)
