Srinagar, Jan 03 (KNS): Continuing its drive against traffic violators to ensure safe driving, Police has seized 805 and challaned 15,881 vehicles in various districts of valley for different offences in December-2015.
The drive is going on in view of the public complaints, grievances with regard to overloading, intermittent/ obstructive stops, misbehavior, uncleanness of vehicles, non availability of services at late hours, violation of routes, over charging, playing audio/ visual systems, negligent driving, reservation of seats for women/ handicapped, un regulated movement and wrong parking, resulting in traffic jam and accidents.
In South Kashmir: 67 vehicles were seized and 1306 were challaned in Anantnag, 24 vehicles were seized and 378 were challaned in Awantipora, 60 vehicles were seized and 730 were challaned in Kulgam, 71 vehicles were seized and 831 were challaned in Shopian and in Pulwama 58 vehicles were seized and 461 were challaned.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
In Central Kashmir: 255 vehicles were seized and 1769 were challaned in Srinagar, 34 vehicles were seized and 758 were challaned in Budgam, 22 vehicles were seized and 918 vehicles were challaned in Leh and Kargil and in Ganderbal 50 vehicles were seized and 1594 were challaned.
In North Kashmir: 45 vehicles were seized and 1509 were challaned in Baramulla, 29 vehicles were seized and 786 were challaned in Kupwara, 19 vehicles were seized and 647 were challaned in Handwara, 23 vehicles were seized and 1561 were challaned in Sopore and in Bandipora 48 vehicles were seized and 2633 were challaned.
