Srinagar, May 29 (KNS): Financial Commissioner (FC), Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department, Atal Dulloo today said that the 500 Bed DRDO hospital is among steps being implemented for the possible third wave of Covid-19.

 

Speaking to reporters at the sidelines of inaugral Ceremony of hospital, he said, "500 bed hospital has been constructed with the help of DRDO and the hospital has 125 ICU beds and as of now its trial run is going on. As soon as the trial run is completed, we will start admitting patients to it, he said adding that " we will be able to admit patients here from June 1st".

 

Replying a query regarding slow vaccination of 18-45 years age group he said," it is open to all but Slots are limited adding that as we get more and more vaccines, we will increase the number of slots and the number of vaccination sites.At present we are giving priority to first contact groups in which we are giving priority to journalists, lawyers, shopkeepers and many more first contacts."

 

He also sais Black fungus is a matter of concern and have notified it under the Epidemic Disease Act.

People who have diabetes and covid have frequent use of steroids during covid Positive.So due to triple combination of diabetes, steroids and covid, patients remains vulnerable of mucromysis, he said.

 

Replying a query regarding the preparations being implemented for possible third wave of Covid-19, he said that the committee has been constituted and they are submitting an action plan on it.

" As we built this hospital, it is also a preparation for the third wave, he said as per Kashmir news Service, adding that "The oxygen generation plant we are installing in all district hospitals and PHCs is also a preparation for the third wave".

 

Replying on total no of black fungus cases in Jammu and Kashmir, he informed that Suspected cases of Black fungus in Jammu and Kashmir are eight to ten in number but only two confirmed cases have been reported till now.

 

Facilities of Pharmacy, Diagnostics,lab, oxygen, ventilators and ICU facilities will be provided in this hospital, he added. (KNS)
