Srinagar, Feb 12 (KNS): Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the civilian killings in Frisal Kulgam today, National Conference leader & MLC from south Kashmir Dr S Bashir Ahmad Veeri strongly condemned the civilian killings at encounter site of Frisal Kulgam.
In a statement issued to KNS, Veeri termed the killing of innocent people equal to genocide which is very unfortunate & unacceptable. Dr Veeri said that foundation for another cycle of unrest is being laid by targeting & killing of innocent youth of our community. Promise of maximum restraint by Government during budget session proved to be hollow and state apparatus has once again failed miserably in protecting lives of innocent people at the site of encounter. Veeri cautioned GOI in misreading the situation & emotions of large section of population of state. Time has come to start dialogue with stakeholders as well as with Pakistan so that lasting solution for permanent peace is found.
Dr Veeri also asked the Govt to conduct probe into the killings and bring the persons responsible to justice, he said killings of innocent persons must be stopped at any cost. People’s sentiments are deeply hurt due to violence of 26 years which requires arriving at acceptable solution as per aspirations of people so that further violence is stopped. GOVT must take strong note of these killings and ensure justice to bereaved families of innocent persons. (KNS)
