‘I urge the Guv Admin to air lift stranded passengers from Jammu to Srinagar’

Srinagar, Feb 09 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Saturday expressed sorrow and deep anguish over the loss of many lives in the aftermath of recent heavy snowfall urging the incumbent governor administration to provide adequate assistance to the bereaved families.
While expressing condolences with the grieved families, Dr Farooq said, “Unfortunately many lives were lost to the frenzy of nature in the past few days.  Not just that, people living in snow bound areas have suffered immense losses to their households as well as orchards. The normal life has come to a grinding halt.”
“Now it is the prime duty of the incumbent administration to provide succor to the affected families. I urge the governor sahib to personally monitor the relief and rescue operation and ensure that people don’t have to suffer any more.  The families who have lost their loved ones should be provided ex-gratia and the injured should be provided the best of medical treatment,” he said adding that the death of a boy the other day has ‘personally agonized me’.
Dr Farooq said that the administration from now onwards should boast a well thought out, coordinated operational response in its preparedness to deal with the vagaries of weather.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“I urge the governor administration to air lift the stranded passengers from Jammu to Srinagar. The administration should ensure that people don’t have to suffer in view of the blockage of the National highway.”
“Disasters occur throughout the world, however people there take lessons from any such eventually and do capacity building to meet any exigencies arising after such rough weather conditions in the valley. But in this part of the world, we tend to forget and move on with our lives.  Mother Nature cannot be tamed. The calamities are unexpected in nature, so it is better to be prepared for such eventualities,” he further added.
Dr Farooq urged the incumbent administration to use Dakota air services to air lift essential commodities and life saving drugs to the valley. “The divisional administration should also keep the prices of commodities in markets under control,” he said.
Meanwhile Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have expressed grief over the demise of the sister of district president Bandipore, Ex-MLA Mir Ghulam Rasool Naaz. The duo has prayed for peace to the soul of deceased and strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss. (KNS)
