Srinagar, 22 August (KNS): The J&K National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Mr. Omar Abdullah on Sunday greeted the people on the observance of Raksha Bandhan festival.

Dr Farooq said the festival is a unique feature of India’s cultural ethos and celebrated syncretic traditions symbolizing the special bonds between brothers and sisters. He said that this festival has a special significance for Jammu and Kashmir as the annual Shri Amarnath yatra concludes on this day. “I hope and pray that the festival augurs well for lasting peace in J&K and the rest of the country,” he said.

In his greetings message, Omar Abdullah said that Jammu and Kashmir has a great tradition of observing festivals in unity and togetherness. He called for further strengthening this trait and said that amity and brotherhood adds colours to the celebration of festivals. He prayed for peace in J&K, Ladakh and the rest of the country,” he said.

Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Additional General Secretary Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Party MPS Muhammad Akbar Lone, Hassnain Masoodi, Minority Wing President MK Yogi, Dr. Sameer Koul, Bushan Lal Sharma have also greeted people on the auspicious occasion.(KNS)
