Dr Beigh concerned over surge in Covid cases in JK

Srinagar, May 9 (KNS): PDP’s Organizational General Secretary, Dr Mehboob Beigh has expressed concern over the growing Covid-19 cases in Jammu & Kashmir and called for more transparency and better communication. In a statement issued to KNS, Dr Beigh has appealed to the masses to follow all protocol which includes double masking, frequent washing of hands and maintaining physical distancing.
" While it seems that the administration is well equipped to handle the number of cases that we are seeing as on date, we must not be complacent and taming this menace can only be achieved by a joint effort on part of the citizens and the administration," he said.
We are seeing the unfortunate circumstances that prevail in many parts of the country today and we must learn a lesson or two from what is going on in such states, remarked Dr Beigh.

Dr Beigh further added that "while we must take all possible steps to ensure that things keep improving and the caseload goes down, we must also be prepared for the worst. "
"The people must be constantly made aware of the availability of beds, oxygen and medicines and the stock must constantly be updated to meet any pressing demand. More and more transparency and communication with the people will only help allay their anxiety and apprehensions," he said.

Dr Beigh also suggested that a press briefing be held on a regular basis where-in the people are kept abreast of the latest behaviour of the virus, the evolving medical science in this regard, the protocols, tackling and making people aware of the potential dangers that come with self-medication as well as the local availability of oxygen, ICU beds and medicines and said that the same will go a long way as constant communication will keep the people informed and would help them understand and deal with the grim situation at hand.
