Srinagar, 10 Sep (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Hon'ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today paid glowing tributes to veteran party leader former minister Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmad Lone on his 23rd martyrdom anniversary, highlighting the immense contributions of the late leader to both the party and the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

In his tribute, Dr. Farooq Abdullah recalled Late Mushtaq Ahmed Lone’s unwavering dedication to his people and his selfless service, which, he said, had become an enduring legacy. “Late Mushtaq Ahmed Lone was a man of the masses. His life was a testament to selflessness, and his sacrifices continue to inspire generations. Mushtaq Ahmed Lone laid down his life for the service of the people and the cause of democracy in Jammu & Kashmir. Despite the dark times following his tragic assassination, we found strength in his sacrifice, and it motivated us to carry forward his vision for a peaceful and democratic future for our region,” he said.

Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also paid his tributes, emphasizing the significance of Lone’s martyrdom in the context of Jammu & Kashmir's turbulent history. “We lost a dedicated and selfless leader in Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, and his assassination stands as a stark reminder of the immense sacrifices made by the National Conference to preserve democracy and restore normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir. On his 23rd death anniversary, I extend my heartfelt tributes to Lone Sahab. The duo reaffirmed that the legacy of Late Mushtaq Ahmed Lone would continue to inspire and guide future generations in their pursuit of justice, peace, and democracy in Jammu & Kashmir.

Among those who paid tribute were General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, and senior leaders Choudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Shafi Uri, Abdul Rahim Rather, Mubarak Gul, Shameema Firdous, Sakina Itoo, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardhy, and Qamar Ali Akhoon.

Political Advisors Mudassar Shahmiri and Mushtaq Guroo, along with Party Members of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad and Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, also extended their tributes.

Provincial office bearers including Provincial President (Kashmir) Showkat Mir and Provincial President (Jammu) Rattan Lal Gupta, as well as media and social media functionaries—State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Additional State Spokesperson Sarah Hayat Shah, and Social Media Head Ifra Jan—joined in remembering him.

From the Women's Wing, tributes were paid by Provincial President (Kashmir) Er. Sabiya Qadri and Provincial President (Jammu) Satwant Kour Dogra. Youth National Conference (YNC) functionaries including Provincial President (Kashmir) Mir Mushtaq and Provincial President (Jammu) Tejinder Singh Pal Aman also paid homage.

Sardar J.S. Azad represented the Minority Wing in offering his respects. Numerous party legislators, zonal functionaries, and other provincial and state-level leaders likewise paid heartfelt tribute.(KNS)
