Srinagar, Dec 13 (KNS): Accusing present regime of failing to fulfill its promises made to people, Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) Tuesday held anti-government protest rally at Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s district Baramulla.
Hundreds of protesters led by DPN chief and former agriculture minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir assembled at Tangmarg main Chowk and raised anti-government slogans.
The protesters were also carrying placards and banners, which read: “Fulfill promises, don’t cheat, don’t betray.”
According to KNS correspondent, Mir at the rally said that PDP as a ruling party has failed to fulfill the promises it had made to the people.
“PDP, in its election manifesto, promised to resolve Kashmir issue and to eradicate unemployment in the state. More than two years have passed and it is yet to fulfill either of the promises,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He said that the government must take measures to reach out to youth and to know reasons as why youth feel alienated.
“The government is acting contrary to its assurances and claims. It had promised amnesty to youth booked in various cases in 2010. Instead of releasing them, it has send thousands of youth behind the bars in 2016,” he added.
Mir said that the people here want to have the government which will work for their welfare at large. “However, instead of providing carrying welfare activities at least 117 civilians were killed, 16240 were maimed among which 7355 were hit by pellets. 22 people were blinded while 70 people lost their one eye. 6500 houses and shops were damaged by the forces. The events and figures of past five months suggest that J&K government has been converted into police state,” Mir added. (KNS)
