Expressing deep sorrow and anger over the killing of civilians on both sides of LoC in Poonch sector, Democratic Liberation Party Chairman Hashim Qureshi has asked both India and Pakistan shun the path of confrontation so that Kashmiris have not to become victims of the anger, hatred and stubbornness of the two nations.
In a statement issued here today, Qureshi said that while Pakistan claims Kashmir as its jugular vein and India claims Kashmir as its integral part, “but both nations leave no stone unturned in shedding blood of the people of J&K which is in complete contradiction to their stated claims”.
He asks the governments of both India and Pakistan that if their priority was not to ameliorate the living conditions of their people but to destroy each other to annihilation, “then they should fight theirs wars away from J&K that is on their own borders”.
DLP chairman appealed the people of Jammu and Kashmir to rise above the religious and other considerations and lodge a strong protest against the strife going on across LoC and international border.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“Because the cross-LoC and cross border skirmishes not only results damage to life and property of people living in the border areas, but also force them to migrate to safer places,” he said.
Qureshi also criticised the separatist leadership for being selective in condemning the killing of innocent people, and urged them to express sorrow and anger in equal terms on the killing of any innocent person in any part of J&K. “Ironically, people of Kashmir have never raised any protest against killing of people in cross-LoC firing by Indian and Pakistani troops, who every now and then shed the blood of people living in the disputed territory,” Qureshi said.
He urged upon international community to pressurize both nation to stop the firing and mortar shelling on the borders and ensure safety of life and property of people living in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
