Says hindering firefighting ops results in more loss

Srinagar, Dec 18 (KNS): Deputy director Fire and Emergency Department Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad Sunday urged people of the Kashmir Valley to let them do their job and not hound them during firefighting operations, as it results in wastage of precious time and more loss. 

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) he also appealed to people to take all precautionary measures and never leave any appliance unattended, besides replace old electric fittings. 

He said the number of fire incidents increase in Winter season as compared to Summer, because of the increased usage of heating appliances throughout Winters. 

He, however, said the number of incidents were heavy even during last year.

The official said during winters fire incidents increase due to several reasons, which include short circuit in electric wires, LPG cylinder blasts, usage of heating appliances as sometimes people leave them unattended. 

"Also if we see wood is an important part of our houses which catches fire more easily and not to forget about old electric fittings," he said. 

He said 99 percent of these incidents happen because of peoples’ carelessness. 

He further appealed to the people that whenever any such unfortunate event takes place let the do their work and do not hound them, as it results in wastage of precious time and more loss. (KNS)
