Srinagar, Dec 23 (KNS): To oppose the government decision of issuing domicile certificates to West Pakistan Refugees (WPR), Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) chief and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rashid Friday staged a sit-in protest outside the residence of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar.
The protesting MLA along with his few supporters was seen holding banner displaying, “Refugees are refugees, deport them” outside the CM’s residence.
Rasheed had earlier announced to stage 48-hour-long protest against the government move outside the CM’s Gupkar residence from today.
MLA Langate said that the government by such moves are trying to change the demographic status of the state.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“Instead of issuing domicile certificates to WPRs, the government must deport the Refugees to Pakistan,” he said.
He said that the central government with the full support of the state dispensation under a well planned conspiracy are trying to change the demography of the state. “We won’t allow the government to take anti-Kashmiri decisions,” he said.
He said that they want to tell Mehbooba Mufti not to take any step that will disturb the demography of the state. (KNS)
