Srinagar, 1 April (KNS): Lambasting the BJP Government from bringing domicile law through back door by means of a Presidential order, Awami Itehad Party admonished the move and termed it a mockery in the name of a domicile law. If Modi lead administration really wanted to empower, protect and safeguard rights over land and jobs for Kashmiris as a beginning step towards course correction, the domicile law should have ensured guarantees regarding same.
A statement issued to KNS reads, but the law aims to provide domicile rights to outsiders, those who have spent a period of 15 years in Kashmir along with the children of all Central Government officials, PSU’s, autonomous bodies, officials of Central Universities who have worked in Kashmir for a period of ten or more years. The law no where ensures land rights for locals but instead lays our terms even for those outsiders who have pursued education for seven or more years in Kashmir to be treated as domiciles. It is crystal clear that the law in no way empowers Kashmiris but is an attempt to change the demography and reduce Kashmiris to second class citizens in their own nation. It is yet another machination to further disenfranchise Kashmiris and ridicules the sentiments of Kashmiri people. Questioning timing of such a law at a time when entire world is battling Covid-19, party Spokesperson Sheeban Ashai said that it seems Amit Shah lead Home Ministry of India is least bothered people at large and are focusing all energies in implementing Israel like model in Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDespite the fact that cases challenging abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A are before Supreme Court of India, party leadership has time and again reiterated that 371 like arrangement can never be a replacement for Articles 370 and 35-A and the party’s stand vis-a-vis all core issues is sacrosanct and uncompromisable.Through such political misadventures, New Delhi by its policy of continuously rubbing salt in the wounds of Kashmiris is leaving no stone unturned to ensure Kashmiri youth are left with no option but to go the 1990’s way. At a time when all major political leaders are incarcerated or under home detentions by bringing such legislations Modi and Co are in a way closing all doors of reconciliation on Kashmiris and the international community must take note of these developments. The domicile law in its present shape is absolutely unacceptable, Awami Itehad Party denounces and condemns such a dastardly step that is taken in the dead of night to further disempower and persecute Kashmiris.(KNS)
