Srinagar, Oct 29 (KNS): A family in Uri has demanded the government to constitute a special team of police to fairly probe the alleged murder of their daughter by her in-laws.
Rustam Sheikh of Nambla, father of deceased Fahmeeda Bano, said that his daughter was married to Muneer Ahmad of Salamabad Uri in 2002, and the couple had four children.
“Muneer had extra marital with few women, that lead to frequent quarrels between the couple. The husband and his family beat my daughter when she would raise the issue with them. Even, one day they tried to kill her by electric shock,” Sheikh alleged.
He said that on October 1, his family was informed about the tragic death of his daughter at her in-laws due to cardiac arrest.
“But we did not believe my daughter’s in-laws and asked for postmortem.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWe found marks of strangulation on her neck. We suspected that my daughter was murdered by her in-laws,” he said.
He said that after protests by them and people in the area “over the murder”, police registered an FIR u/s 306 against Muneer, but not against his other family members.
“Police is trying to bury the case by calling it a suicide, and not arresting other accused,” he said, adding that if such cases are not dealt with justice and probed fairly, crimes against women accentuate.
“We demand an impartial and fair investigation by police by constituting a special team that will carry out the probe with fair,” he said. (KNS)
