Srinagar, Aug 10 (KNS): The faculty members of Jammu and Kashmir government-run medical and dental colleges Wednesday staged sit-in against the use of pellet guns which left several persons blind since July 9.
The faculty members wearing white aprons assembled in the lawns of Government Medical College and with one eye blind-folded showing solidarity with patients who have lost their vision to the pellet injuries.
They were also holding placards displaying ‘hear our silence see our blindness, stop mayhem of deaths, disability and darkness and stop killing innocent kids they have not lived their life yet’.
The protesters said that the protest was organized to condemn the civilian killings and use of pellet guns in Kashmir. “The government should immediately order ban on using pellet guns against on protesters,” they said.
They said that despite repeated concerns by the specialist doctors, the unabated use of pellet guns continued on protesters, which led to injuries to eyes and vital organs of the people here.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The government should immediately order ban on its use,” they demanded.
Pertinently, the paramedical staff and nurses of SMHS Hospital also staged protest on August 8 demanding immediate ban on use of pellet guns on protesters.
Scores of non-gazetted employees of JVC hospital on 1st August staged protest against the use of pellet guns on protesters.
Reports said the non-gazetted staff of JVC took out procession from the hospital premises and staged sit-in at Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway.
Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) has also condemned the use of such weapons on protesters and had said that the weapons are not only injuring the protesters but are killing them as well. (KNS)
