Doctors and paramedics of Kashmir hospitals today protested against government’s failure to restore flood-hit hospitals.
Black bands were worn by doctors and paramedics in response to the call given by Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), Resident Doctors Association (RDA), and Medical Employees Federation (MEF).
In a statement to KNS, President DAK Dr Nisar -ul-Hassan said that government has visibly failed to replace machinery like MRI, Radiotherapy and laboratory equipments which has given untold sufferings to patients.
During last year September floods, patients were left to die in hospitals as no efforts were made to rescue the stranded patients.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The government didn't issue prior warnings which resulted in the death of scores of patients.
DAK had written to WHO for medical assistance who had agreed to provide help, but government didn't allow any international aid.
Also, some Kashmiri based foreign doctors wanted to donate machinery to flood-hit hospitals, but government denied the help claiming it has the capacity to re-jig the damaged hospitals and their tall claims proved to be hoax.
Due to non-availability of machinery and other facilities in valley’s premier government hospitals poor patients are forced to go to private clinics for investigations and treatment. (KNS)
