Srinagar, Aug 22 (KNS): Doctors and paramedical staff at Pulwama District Hospital Monday staged protest against the “murderous attempt” on ambulance driver at Safa Kadal and harassing of medical staff at various places.
The doctors and paramedical staff at Pulwama hospital assembled outside the hospital and chanted slogans against forces. They were holding placards displaying stop use of pellet guns, stop attack on ambulances; we want justice and stop attack on medical staff.
The doctors while talking o KNS condemned the attack on ambulance driver and termed the act as “inhuman”.
They said that the involved force personnel should be booked and dealt with strictly according to law. “The government should personally intervene into the matter so that the attack of ambulances, medical staff should be stopped,” they said.
They said that besides forces, it has been reported that youth are also stopping and damaging the ambulances while ferrying patients, which should also be stopped.
Protesters demanded that the use of pellet guns, which maimed thousands of people so far, should also be stopped as a number of youth lost their eyesight due to its use.
The protesters later dispersed peacefully.
However, doctors and paramedical staff at District Hospital Anantnag also staged protests against attacks on medical staff and demanded immediate action against the involved force personnel.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The doctors and paramedical staff were holding placards.
Doctors said that the many ambulances were damaged so far and the ambulance drivers ferrying injured persons are facing harassment. “The government should personally intervene into the matter to ensure hassle free movement of ambulances,” they said.
The protesters also condemned the attack on ambulance driver by forces at Safa Kadal and demanded strict action against the force personnel involved in attacking the driver.
Meanwhile, Medical and Para-Medical Staff at District Hospital Kupwara on Monday held a symbolic protest against the use of pellet guns and the consistent harassment and assault on medical staff while performing their duties.
The support staff of Health Department also took part in the protest as a mark of solidarity with the affected victims
Meanwhile, across the Kashmir valley DAK also protested in solidarity with the recent attacks on ambulance emergency services at various places and condemned the attacks.
The purpose of this symbolic protest, one of the doctors at District Hospital Kupwara said is to highlight the issues of safety and security which day by day is getting worrisome and medical staff is deeply agonized and traumatized. (KNS)
