DLSA Budgam Celebrates World Tribal Day with Vibrant Cultural Event

 Budgam, August 9(KNS): In a remarkable tribute to indigenous cultures and traditions, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam, in partnership with the Department of Tribal Affairs, Budgam, orchestrated a grand event in honor of World Tribal Day.

The event took place at the scenic Gujjar and Bakarwal Boys Hostel, Budgam, and saw the esteemed presence of Khalil Choudhary, the Hon'ble Chairman of DLSA Budgam, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The program was organized under the supervision of Mr. Jahangir Ahmad Bakhshi, Secretary of DLSA Budgam.

Marking the global observance of World Tribal Day on August 9, 2023, the event beautifully embodied the commitment to uphold and celebrate the rich cultural diversity woven by indigenous communities worldwide. The collaborative effort by DLSA Budgam and the Department of Tribal Affairs was a splendid showcase of unity.

Khalil Choudhary, as the Chief Guest, eloquently emphasized the significance of safeguarding and cherishing the unique cultural identities of indigenous communities. A notable highlight of the event was the enthusiastic participation of students from Gujjar and Bakarwal Boys Hostel. These vibrant students took the stage, captivating the audience with mesmerizing cultural performances that encompassed traditional music and art forms—each a testament to the richness of tribal heritage passed down through generations. The students also spoke about the Welfare measures and initiatives of the Government and Department of Tribal Affairs.

In recognition of their dedication, each participating student was honored with a certificate of participation by Mr. Khalil Choudhary. This gesture aimed to instill a sense of pride and motivation in the younger generation to embrace and honor indigenous legacies. Mr. Choudhary, in his address, stated, "Let us use this occasion not just as a moment of celebration but as a stepping stone towards a more equitable and just society. Let us commit ourselves to promoting education, preserving cultural heritage, and championing the rights of our tribal brethren. Together, we can create a world where every tribe, every community, and every individual stands united in the pursuit of progress and prosperity."

The event also provided an opportunity to commemorate and celebrate the 76th year of India's independence. As the nation reflects upon its journey since independence, this event served as a reminder of the myriad cultures that collectively form the nation's vibrant tapestry.

The World Tribal Day festivities at Gujjar and Bakarwal Hostel were a resounding success, underscoring the unity of purpose in celebrating the cultural heritage of indigenous communities. Lateef Ahmad Khan, a Panel Lawyer from DLSA Budgam, along with resource persons from DLSA Budgam, highlighted various welfare schemes and initiatives of the Government for the Tribal Community. Nisar Ahmad PLV from DLSA Budgam hosted the program.  Lateef Ahmad Jahra, Assistant Warden of Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel Budgam, presented the welcome address, and Nisar Ahmad Wardan from Gujjar and Bakerwal Boys Hostel Budgam expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks to the audience.

The program was attended by the staff and students of the hostel, as well as staff members, PLVs, and panel lawyers of DLSA Budgam.(KNS).
