Div Com visits Kulgam, participates in Block Diwas at D.H Pora

Kulgam, Jan 05 (KNS): As part of weekly Block Diwas initiative and to take governance at the door steps of people, the Public Outreach programmes were today held at three blocks of Kulgam district.

The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K. Pole presided over the public outreach programme held at Common Facility Centre in Block D.H.Pora.

DDC Chairperson, Mohd Afzal Parrey; Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat; DDC member D.K.Marg, Gulzar Ahmad Dar; DDC Member Manzgam, Jameela Chowdhary; BDCs, PRIs and other district and Sectoral officers, besides a large number of people attended the programme.

The programme witnessed participation of scores of individuals and deputations of people, PRI members who projected demands and apprised the Div Com about the problems and issues faced by them.

People submitted memorandum of demands highlighting issues including better road connectivity, drinking water supply in uncovered areas, augmentation of health infrastructure and other amenities.

Members from Noorabad Welfare Society demanded to scale up pace of work on Aaadigen-Damhal Bridge for its early completion and separate Transformer workshop for area.

They also demanded construction of a Bypass from Laisoo Bridge to Kounsarbal Ahmadabad besides to establish wildlife control room in sub-division.

The other demands were establishment of Receiving station at Manzgam and additional BPL ration card quota for poor consumers and

Bypass from Mandgori to Margi, separate education zone for Manzgam.

People from Ahmadabad demanded  establishment of JK Bank branch in the village and to augment health care and water supply scenario in the area, Ambulance facility besides, development of tourist spots in the area to boost the economy of the area.

People from Manzgam, D.K.Marg, Laisoo, Mandgori and other areas also apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the issues and flagged-off their demands.

DDC Chairperson along with DDC Members from Manzgam and D.K.Marg also highlighted various demands of public importance.

All the issues and demands of people were listened to by Div Com for redressal.

Speaking on the occasion, the Div Com said that a transparent, accountable and responsive system is in place with prime focus to mitigate issues and grievances of people in a time bound manner besides to provide hassle-free services to the people.

He also highlighted the role and importance of PRIs and added that PRIs play a vital role in equitable development of their areas by formulating and implementing various plans.

While speaking to media persons, the Div Com said that the Divisional Administration is fully prepared to deal with possible 3rd wave of Covid-19.

He however stressed and appealed to people to follow the Covid-19 SOPs and guidelines that are instrumental to contain the spread of Coronavirus and its new variant ‘Omicron’.

Earlier, the Div Com inspected a playfield at Aadigen which is being developed by RDD.

The Deputy Commissioner briefed the Div Com that the Playfield is expanded over an area of more than 55 kanals and is developed with an estimated cost of 30 lacs.

The Div Com also took stock of pace and progress of Aadigen Bridge which is under execution of R&B Department. He instructed Executive Engineer R&B to ensure completion of the bridge within the shortest possible time. 

It was informed that the bridge is under languishing projects and will come up with an estimated cost of 17.96 crore.

The Div Com also visited the High Density Orchard at Modergam Kulgam, established with the technical and financial support of the Department of Horticulture.

Meanwhile, the public outreach programmes were also held at Block Devsar and Kulgam. Officers present on the occasion recorded the issues and grievances of people assured of their timely redressal. (KNS)
