Cultural Academy to commemorate Nazim, Shorish in big way: Hajini

Under it’s recently launched initiative of decentralization of literary and cultural activities, the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages
Wednesday organized a district level composite mushaira at Degree College Bijbehara.
The mushaira, held in association with Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar, began at 2:00 pm. Several prominent poets representing languages like Kashmiri, Urdu, Pahari and Gojri recited their poetry during the poetic symposium which lasted for nearly three hours.
Presided over by Prof. G. M. Shad, the mushaira also had Principal Degree College, Bijbehara Prof. N. A. Church and Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini in the presidium.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that the aim of holding poetic symposia at district level and at educational institutions was to afford opportunities of participation to all genuine and deserving poets and to disseminate our cultural and literary heritage to younger generation.

Laying emphasis on making concerted efforts for properly highlighting the contribution of unsung literary personalities of the State, Dr. Hajini announced that under this initiative the Academy will organize mega events in the memory of noted literary figures like Abdul Ahad Nazim and Shorish Kashmiri.
“To be held at Bijbehara and Shopian respectively the events would promote and highlight the contribution of the duo to Kashmiri language and culture,” Hajini said.
The poets who recited their poetry in today’s composite mushaira included Firdous Shah Abadi, Iftikhar Anjum, Nadir Ahsan, Bashir Dada, Maqbool Veeray, Bashir Asrar, Zahid Mukhtar, Altaf Ahmad Nizami and Bashir Ahmad Shah among others.
The event was coordinated by Academy’s assistant editors, Dr. Syed Iftikhar Ahmad and Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather. (KNS)
