District admin Kupwara aims to script success of aspirants with free civil service coaching

Kupwara November 04 (KNS): In a major initiative for enhancing the competitive skills among the students to pursue their dream of qualifying UPSC exams, the district administration Kupwara has set up two free coaching centres for civil services aspirants of the border district Kupwara where aspirants mostly need to travel capital city Srinagar to earn the civil service coaching. 


The initiative is maiden in nature as the aspirants had to move Srinagar district for availing coaching to appear in the elite examination.

Shortly after assuming charge as Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Dr Sagar (IAS) took an initiative to provide free coaching to numerous aspirants who can’t afford to enroll themselves in expensive coaching centres for civil service. 

The administration has received overwhelming response of 1343 candidates, out of which 267 were shortlisted on merit. 

The two coaching centres, based in GDC Handwara and GDC Kupwara have seating capacity of 120 plus students and are fully modified with lighting, internet facility and Digital board services. The administration has deputed two co-ordinators for each centre. 

Besides two highly qualified experts from Pune have been asked to impart education and other requisite training to aspirants , special faculty lectures are also arranged through zoom app .The district administration has scheduled coaching for 100 days, however aspirants have sought extension in duration. 

Dr Ibrahim Khawaja, Co-ordinator at GDC Handwara said that It is an unprecedented step by the district administration Kupwara. "The faculty is of national standard and their content delivery is superior than whatever is being offered by the existing coaching centres in J&K", Khawaja said. 

"All the arrangements have been put in place at both centers for smooth conduct of the coaching session", he added. 

Traveling from far off area of Kupwara's Lolab, Mehnaz terms the initiative a doorstep opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming IAS. "I have done my Master's from NIT Srinagar and I was not in a position to go for UPSC coaching because of financial constraints, but the initiative taken by DC Kupwara brought a ray of hope for everyone of us here, who couldn't afford UPSC coaching to achieve their dream", Mehnaz told KNS.

"Since our DC is an IAS, the initiative indicates his hardwork and concern. We all extend our warm gratitude to the district administration Kupwara for taking this pro-student step", she said. 

Mir Aqib, a student of Kralapora, Kupwara said that the initiative would help many aspirants to reach closer to their goal of qualifying IAS. "The administration truly deserves applause for this student-friendly initiative", Aqib said.

During the inaugural ceremony, the DC Kupwara delivered a key lecture at both centres while as SP Handwara Sheema Qasba also gave special lecture to students who urges them to pursue their educational dream in letter and spirit and contribute their talent in nation building. 

The two senior officers assured their full support to the aspirants and wished them good luck for their future journey.

Talking to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Dr Doifode Sagar Dattatray, he said that the administration is on fore front for enchancing the competitive skills among the students to help them pursue their dream of qualifying UPSC exams . "Even several motivational lectures were also given by the senior Officials of the district including me and SP Handwara Sheema Qasba," he said, adding that a good response is being received from the students as well. 

The DC futher said that faculty from outside UT is also giving lectures to the students though online medium.

We will also engage our other senior officers for guest lectures to motivate the aspirants, he added.(KNS)
