Srinagar, Dec 23 (KNS): Senior Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor Saturday termed the disqualification of 146 MPs an “assault on parliamentary democracy”.
Speaking to reporters during a rally, the Congress leader said we are stuck in an extremely grave situation and disqualification of 146 MPs was an assault on our parliamentary democracy.
“We are seeing an assault on our parliamentary democracy which is extremely grave. We are holding rallies whose aim is to draw the attention of the public across the country towards perilous situation facing our democracy,” Congress MP said.
He said we have never seen in the history that 146 MPs were suspended in one-go. “It is a blot on democracy and is a national disgrace on our country that calls itself the mother of democracy,” he said.
To a query he replied the future course of action of INDIA Bloc will be to persuade voters of the country to give mandate to the alliance and save the democracy. (KNS)
