Jammu Jan 28 (KNS) : The Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit expressed concern over the growing regional rivalry between Kashmir and Jammu and demanded that both divisions be treated equally at educational and developmental levels, rising above vote bank politics.
At a press conference held today at the party's state central office, State President Manish Sahni stated that awarding a center for high-level legal education (NLU) to only one region is discrimination against the Jammu province and a violation of students' rights, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He said that political games are being played with Jammu. The closure of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College, the selection of all players from the Kashmir division in the Santosh Trophy, and now the NLU controversy cannot be mere coincidences; they are deliberate experiments.

Sahni dismissed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's claims about Jammu and his statement regarding having institutions like IIT and IIM as adding fuel to the fire. Meanwhile, he noted that the BJP is silently watching the entire spectacle. Jammu has already suffered the consequences of the medical college's closure. Before the NLU also falls victim to internal disputes, we must sit down together and find a solution.
Sahni suggested that the government open a National Law University (NLU) in Jammu alongside Kashmir or adopt a multi-campus model. Vikas Bakshi, Sanjeev Kohli, and Aditya Mahajan were also present on the occasion. (KNS)
