Srinagar, June 29 (KNS): 4211 village defence committee's have been constituted in 10 districts of Jammu who are being issued 50 to 100 rounds per person and no proper account is being maintained which is misused by them.
In a statement issued to KNS, NC MLC Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri asked the performance of these VDC'S in anti militancy activities in 21 years of its existence. Govt replied that only 14 militants were caught or neutralized by these VDCs.
A force of thousands of VDC’s neutralizing just 14 militants in 21 years countered Veeri sarcastically.
Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri reminded cold blooded murder of Ishtiyaq choudhry at Kalakote in December 2015 and murder of one lady and her 5 years on by these fanatics in January in Budhal area. More than 43 civilians are killed by the members of VDCs and hundreds of FIR's have been registered against them during their existence and moreover twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch have been declared militancy free and in Chenab valley as per intelligence report only 2 militants are present and both are inactive so what is the fun of continuation of this anti social force in these areas.
Dr Veeri referred Supreme Court verdict about Sulwa Judum, (Peace March Force) which was created on similar lines to fight Maoist forces in Chhatisgarh state, was declared illegal by Supreme Court of India in 2010 and subsequently it was disbanded.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWhy double standards are used visa vis J&K.
Not satisfied with the reply of Government, Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri staged walk out from council as a mark of protest.
Besides army, paramilitary forces and police, Government has created another organised force in state which has turned whole state into police state and creates psychological terror not only to inhabitants of state but to those people who wish to visit state as tourist. He was shouting near well of the house.
Reiterating his demand of disbanding and disarming of VDC'S, NC MLC Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri said this force has been created to suppress the Jammu Muslims and there is no accountability system present to check their atrocities and cruelties of these Government gunman.
In 2013 PDP and civil society staged several protests against VDC'S but now this party in power is protecting and propagating them. (KNS)
