Disaster Management training commences at GDC Pampore

 
Pampore, Apr 20 (KNS): Five days disaster preparedness training organised by Civil Defence and J&K State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) started at Govt Degree College Pampore from today.
 
According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), training is based on experiential learning model, meant for the students of Disaster Management of the College. 
 
The statement reads that the training will impart life saving skills to the students, through mock drills and hands-on instructions, for managing emergency situations arising out of a disaster event. 
 
“It has been organized in collaboration with the Dept of Environmental Science, GDC Pampore.”
 
Training Coordinator Dr Irfan Khursheed Shah gave brief details and listed expected outcomes of the training to the students. 
 
Chief Guest on the occasion was Er. Aamir Ali, Nodal Officer SEOC, who briefed the students about the importance of Disaster Management and the benefits of trainings. 
 
Principal, Govt Degree College Pampore and Patron of the training Prof Seema Naz welcomed the participants and thanked the Trainers for the support and cooperation. 
 
Training was imparted by Ghulam Nabi and coordinated by Ghulam Rasool from Civil Defence. More than 70 students, including girl students, are participating in the training program. (KNS)
