Srinagar, April 07 (KNS): Director, Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir Reyaz Ahmad Wani (KAS) Tuesday visited Municipal Committee Pattan and adjacent areas to review the status of activities undertaken by Municipal Committee for containment of spread of Covid-19 and preparedness of the Committee in mitigating the impact of the disease.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), during the inspection on spot directions were issued to the Executive Officer and other related staff of the Committee for gearing up the efforts and preventive measures viz. massive sanitation of the area, fumigation of the important establishment like hospitals, quarantine centers and adjacent habitations.

The sanitation workers working on frontline were instructed to wear all safety and protective gears while performing their duties and the Executive Officer has been asked to take immediate steps for providing of proper health insurance cover to all sanitation workers.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

At the occasion, Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir assured them that adequate PPE, Mist Blowers and chemicals required for fumigation as per SOP will be provided to all Municipal Institutions.

Director, while reviewing the work expressed satisfaction about the role being played by the frontline workers of sanitation, elected members and administrative workers in combating Covid-19. He stressed upon them that door to door campaign may be launched for making people aware about personal and public hygiene and appealed people to act upon lockdown restrictioms and maintain social distancing.

In the meantime, one decontamination/ sanitization tunnel was installed by the Department at Government Medical College Hospital Anantnag. Director assures that in other districts, it will be done within coming 2 to 3 days. (KNS)
