Director Tourism visits family of tourist guide who died due to drowning in Tarsar Lake

 
Srinagar, June (KNS): Director Tourism Kashmir Dr G N Itoo on Friday visited the family of Shakil Ahmad, a tourist guide, who lost his life during an expedition trip when he was accompanying a group of tourists at Tarsar Lake in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district. 
 
Dr Itoo, while expressing condolence with the family, said that tourism department is equally pained at the tragic loss of Shakil Ahmad. 
 
“Shakil Ahmed proved his mettle as he did not die of slipping but died while trying to save the life of a tourist. This gesture which amounts to losing one’s life is an open example of our humanity and hospitality. Not only tourism department but entire Kashmir is proud of him and he will always be remembered for his bravery,” he said.
 
He further said that although the loss is irreparable, but whatever the compensation from district administration or tourism department is granted, tourism department will further recommend his case keeping in view his act of valour. (KNS)
