Director Horticulture Kashmir visits Fruit Plant Nursery in Anantnag to review progress of Post Entry Quarantine facility

Srinagar May 10 (KNS): Director Horticulture Kashmir, Mr. G.R. MIR (JKAS), today visited the Fruit Plant Nursery Panzmulla, Anantnag, to review the progress of the Post Entry Quarantine (PeQ) facility being developed there. The Director was accompanied by Joint Director Horticulture Kashmir, Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Chief Horticulture Officer, Anantnag, and Mr. M. Amin Bhat, Technical Officer, Directorate of Horticulture Kashmir.

The said PeQ facility is being developed under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) to create a rootstock bank and nursery block for high-quality planting material imported from outside the country. The Department of Horticulture Kashmir is tasked with developing nursery blocks, rootstock banks, mother blocks, and protected cultivation in both public and private sectors in the Kashmir division.

During the visit, the Director gave on-spot instructions to the officer in charge of the nursery to ensure that the land is prepared for the establishment of the PeQ facility in time for the prestigious government
project.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe further informed that the matter of declaring the nursery as a PeQ centre has already been taken up with SKUAST-K and will subsequently be taken with the Directorate of Plant Protection Quarantine &
Storage, Faridabad.

Later, Director Horticulture who is also supervisory officer for HADP Orientation Programme for the district Shopian and Pulwama visited Panchayat Halqa Babapora, Zainapora, Shopian and participated in a training session. A good number of farmers participated in the training session, during which the Director thoroughly interacted with the farmers and appraised them about the various schemes and projects under HADP.(KNS)
