Director Health Services Kashmir Reviews Preparedness for Inclement Weather and Flood Situations

Srinagar, Sep 4 (KNS) : Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Jehangir Bakshi, convened a high-level review meeting yesterday at his office chamber with divisional-level officers to assess the preparedness of the health sector in view of the inclement weather conditions and the risk of floods in the Kashmir Division.

During the deliberations, comprehensive discussions were held on strengthening the response mechanism, ensuring availability of essential medicines, activating disaster management protocols, and keeping emergency teams on standby to meet any eventuality.

In the second half of the day, Dr. Bakshi held detailed interactions with district-level health authorities, reviewing the readiness of health facilities across districts to effectively respond to emerging situations. He issued clear directions to earmark dedicated beds, augment the existing bed capacity in hospitals, and ensure that no referrals are made from district and peripheral facilities during the crisis period.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Later, the Director visited Gousia Hospital and Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) Hospital, where he took first-hand stock of the on-ground preparedness, availability of staff, medical supplies, and critical care facilities. He emphasized the need for round-the-clock vigilance and close coordination at all levels to ensure timely and effective healthcare delivery during any untoward situation.

The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health and assured that all necessary steps are being taken to respond promptly to any emergency arising out of adverse weather conditions.
