Institutionalized dialogue only solution to Kashmir embargo, need to involve youth through positive measures

Srinagar, Jan 03 (KNS): Calling for an end to the exclusive dependence on security measures, former Chief Minister and President Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday reiterated that there is no substitute to the genuine political process and an institutionalized dialogue to bring Jammu and Kashmir out of its problems.
According to the party spokesman, Mehbooba visited Safanagri, Shopian wherein she met several people’s delegations and also visited family of a slain militant there.
The PDP President on the occasion stated there have been lots of instances of young boys having experienced harshness at state agencies and picking up arms. “We cannot push them further into the deeper mess. We have to involve our present generation through talks and positive measures. Dialogue with all stakeholders including Pakistan is the only way to get the state out of the sordid conditions and accord the people of Kashmir permanent prosperity,” Mehbooba said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
She also demanded that there should be clear-cut directions issued by the state Governor to security forces operating in the state that families of militants should not be targeted in any way. “During my tenure as the Chief Minister, there were clear directions issued to the security agencies that while fighting militancy, families of militants should not be harassed. Our police force is a disciplined force in the entire country and I am hopeful that state Governor will issue directions to the security agencies not to involve the families of militants in anti-militancy operations,” Mehbooba said.
