Dir Horticulture chairs Mega Awareness-cum-Training camp, explains dev schemes implemented by Department


Srinagar December 19:(KNS)N Director Horticulture Kashmir, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (KAS) chaired the Mega Awareness cum training camp at Ranbirgarh Panjnara District Srinagar wherein Experts from Horticulture Department and SKUAST- Kashmir, Students from SKUAST-Kashmir and Staff from NAFED participated.
Director Horticulture explained the developmental schemes implemented by Horticulture Department and the incentives being provided to the orchardists under these schemes. He assured that Horticulture
Department will try its best to meet the demands of orchardists of the District.
Orchardists and Students applauded the Horticulture Department for organizing such training programmes wherein information about latest techniques is being disseminated. Farmers were advised to switch over to new high density plantation programme so as to exploit the full potential from fruit industry. Director Horticulture issued strict instructions to officers/officials to remain punctual, dedicated and honest in performing the Government duties and maintain a close liaison with growers/orchardists, so that they get the benefits of the schemes under implementation in the district.
Director Horticulture highlighted the objectives of the MIS Scheme which were aimed to provide optimum prices to the growers during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also exhorted the stakeholders to reap maximum benefits under the newly launched Schemes viz. Top to Total and PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) as a part of “Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan”
He advised students to learn the techniques so that future of Horticulture is secured in Kashmir and come forward to avail the incentives of the ongoing developmental schemes as Horticulture Sector is more lucrative than any other profession which not only provide fresh fruits to the families but also provide employment avenues as well.
Director Horticulture also highlighted the achievements made during recent tour of High Level delegation from Union Territory of J&K to UAE. He apprised the audience that employment avenues of 1000 youth areexpected in UAE in immediate future. (KNS)
