Dir General Horticulture tours Anantnag, reviews modified High density Plantation Scheme

Srinagar July 03:(KNS)   Director General Horticulture Kashmir Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (KAS), today conducted an extensive tour of District Anantnag. He was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer Anantnag, Farm Manager ACHD Zainpora and other officers of the department of Horticulture.

During the tour Director General Horticulture visited prominent fruit growing areas of the district and also interacted with progressive orchardists and assured them that UT Government is very keen to develop the fruit industry. Director General Horticulture also paid visit to Fruit Plant Nursery Ganeshpora known for walnuts, were he was briefed by the officers of the Department regarding the activities being carried in the nursery for propagation of quality walnut plants. Director General showed his satisfaction on the work done and sanctioned one number bore well in the said Nursery to solve water scarcity problem.

Director General also reviewed of recently launched Modified High Density Plantation Scheme with Chief Horticulture Officer and other field functionaries of the department and stressed for its timely implementation in mission mode in Union Territory for doubling the income of the farmers.(KNS)
