Dilawar Mir demands ration supplies for Gujjar-Bakarwal community

‘Depriving ration to tribal communities inexcusable’

‘Depriving ration to tribal communities inexcusable’

SRINAGAR, May 22 (KNS): Former Minister and Apni Party Senior Leader Mohammad Dilawar Mir on Saturday expressed his deep concern over the disparity met by tribal and nomadic community members at the hands of the food and civil supplies department.

In a statement issued to Kashmir news service (KNS), Mir said that tribal groups, nomads and other backward classes are all natives of Jammu and Kashmir who are entitled to equal rights as any other citizen but the discrimination meted out to them with regard to ration procurement is extremely regrettable.

“For centuries these people have been travelling from higher reaches towards cities and towns in the summer season and vice versa, but even during the prevailing pandemic they have been subjected to face the ration shortages by the administration which is totally deplorable,” he remarked.

Mir urged the J&K government to take cognizance of this matter and take the requisite measures to redress their grievances at the earliest.

“The government is bound to ensure the welfare of the people without resorting to any kind of differences. And in the instant matter, the competent authorities should reach out to these families who until now have been left out beseeching for ration. The members of these communities must be provided with ration supplies so that they do not suffer anymore in these tumultuous circumstances,” he demanded. (KNS)
