Dilapidated condition of Check Sarmarg road irks villagers

Handwara 21 May (KNS): Residents of Check Sarmarg village of North Kashmir Kupwara are suffering immensely due to bad conditions of roads in the village. 

Residents said to Kashmir news service (KNS) that they had brought this issue into the notice of concern authorities several times but no concrete and tangible step has been taken after several years have passed.

A resident from the said area told Kashmir News Service that all though a road was constructed from Sarmarg to check Sarmarg but all most 300-meter road has caved in with the results, the said village has become isolated.

Another resident Manzoor Malik while talking to KNS said that in a recent incident her maternal aunt's body was carried on the shoulder because of the miserable condition of the road and added that after the passing of several years authorities have failed to macadamise the road which raises several questions on the tall claims of authorities of providing better road connectivity to the rural areas.

While talking on the phone DC Kupwara Imam din assures the vehicular road from Sarmarg to check Sarmarg will be constructed on priority basis. (KNS)
