Baramulla, May 6 (KNS): Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range, Dr. Vinod Kumar (IPS), on Wednesday visited district Baramulla to take stock of the security scenario, crime situation, and the ongoing anti-drug drive under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
The DIG was received by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla and other senior officers at the District Police Lines (DPL), where a detailed review meeting was convened.
Officers, including all SDPOs, DySPs (PCs) and SHOs, briefed the DIG on the law and order situation, crime trends, and operational preparedness in their respective jurisdictions. Special focus was given to the intensified crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal pharmaceutical practices.

Appreciating the efforts of Baramulla police in curbing the drug menace, Dr. Vinod Kumar directed officers to further strengthen enforcement, conduct regular inspections of chemist shops, and take strict action against unlicensed sellers.
Stressing on public safety, he called for better coordination, heightened vigilance, and intelligence-based operations to prevent untoward incidents. He also underlined the need for continuous public awareness programmes to educate youth on the ill-effects of drug abuse.
The DIG reiterated that Baramulla police will continue firm action against drug peddlers and law violators, and urged the public to cooperate by reporting any suspicious or illegal activities. (KNS)
