Srinagar, Aug 21 (KNS): Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) in its continuous efforts to upgrade handling of medical emergencies in peripheral hospitals has devised a comprehensive medical emergency programme namely “Emergency Room Skills Course” (ERSC) which was officially launched today at Kashmir Skills & Simulation Centre (KSSC), RIHFW, Dhobiwan. Doctors and Paramedics of District and Sub District Hospitals took part in the first batch of ERSC programme.
This initiative aims for upgrading medical emergencies on modern guidelines. Pertinently the training programmes have been in place for the last four years which has played a significant role while handling emergencies in peripheral hospitals. Earlier the trainings at KSSC were being conducted under different modules viz. Basic Life Support (BLS), Emergency Room Trauma Course (ERTC) & Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) but the Directorate has come up with an innovation to compile all these modules under one banner so that an in-house three day comprehensive training programme by Master Trainers is deliberated upon as the department was facing hurdles in nominating same human resource for different trainings keeping the duty rosters of the health personnel into consideration.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe modules of ERSC training has been devised as such to streamline, upgrade and provide state of art emergency services in every major health institutes of the peripheral hospitals so that precious lives are being saved. Under this initiative, during the current financial year all Emergency Rooms of District & select Sub District Hospitals will have 24x7 trained staff.
Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman while mentioning that ERSC is a first of its kind training programme across country introduced at the Directorate level said that the department has constituted a Medical Emergency audit team which will be strictly monitoring the trainings, their impact and upgradation of Emergency Rooms and functioning and handling of critical care ambulances.
