Srinagar, January 20:(KNS) Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather on Thursday thanked UT administration led by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and Additional Chief Secretary Health and Medical Education, Vivek Bhardwaj for their constant support in achieving the vaccination targets and congratulated health workers for their commitment.

The UT government launched a 10-point campaign in November 2021 to raise awareness and highlight the flagship and other government schemes being implemented at the grassroots level to empower the common man.

Among that 10-point campaign, the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ Campaign laid renewed focus on coverage of all unvaccinated cases across the UT by ensuring Door-to–Door vaccination which substantially boosted vaccination numbers in the region.

The director also thanked public at large and particularly health care workers for their support and commitment for achieving the vaccination target.

Dr Mushtaq said health care workers including doctors and paramedical staff were at the forefront to vaccinate people and it was impossible without their support.

“I appeal the people especially in the 15-18 age group to vaccinate them so that we complete this target and help contain the spread of Covid-19,” he said.

Regarding the rise in Covid-19 cases, he appealed people to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour and maintain social distancing and save themselves.

He said that they have set up call centres in all the districts which are functioning 24/7. He said people who are Covid positive and are in home isolation can call the helpline numbers in case they have severe symptoms and would be hospitalised.

The director said on the directions of the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Health and Medical Education, Vivek Bhardwaj, Covid beds have been kept available in rural areas where people have no option to go for isolation.

The director also said they have recently held a trail of all the oxygen facilities and those have been kept on ready mode.

Dr Mushatq also said that apart from dedicated 500 bedded DRDO Covid-19 hospital, beds have also been kept available at tertiary care hospitals, district and sub district level.

The director said that all the facilities have been kept ready mode in view of new surge in cases and the same is being reviewed on daily basis.

The director said that they have already directed all CMOs, BMOs and Medical Superintendents across Kashmir to increase the IEC activities and get in touch with the pubic to generate awareness about the disease.

J&K has been a front runner among the States/UTs in vaccinating the eligible population with the Covid vaccine. The J&K administration achieved the completion of 1 Crore doses of Covid vaccination as early on 18th September 2021.

Subsequently, 100% coverage of 1st dose in 18 and above age group was achieved on 14th October 2021. It was on 12th January 2022, the administration achieved 100% 2nd dose coverage of 18 and above age group.(KNS)
