Says drugs pose bigger threat than terrorism

Jammu, Dec 26 (KNS): In the series of visits to the different districts of the state DGP Dr. S.P Vaid today visited the districts of Reasi and Udhampur.
During his visit to these districts, the DGP had interactions with the members of the civil society and addressed police darbars in DPL Reasi and DPL Udhampur. He launched mobile App, official website of the Katra Police at DPL Reasi.
While interacting with the civil society at Reasi and Udhampur the DGP said that drugs are posing a bigger threat than terrorism and reiterated his call to the different sections of the society including lawyers, judiciary, doctors and students for cooperating in eradicating this menace from the state of J&K.
He said that a massive crackdown has been launched against the drug peddlers and assured the members that the pressure built on the people involved in this illicit trade will continue.
The representatives of different areas of the district Reasi hailed the police initiatives of Police Community Partnership Groups (PCPG) and engagement of youth through the sports. In Udhampur the members of civil society thanked Police for taking up public amenities under civil action programme (CAP) and organizing sports competitions. They promised to help in fighting crimes.
The DGP listened to the issues and grievances put forth by the representatives of the civil society and assured that those concerned with the police will be solved immediately while as those pertaining to other departments will be conveyed.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The DGP launched the mobile app, official website of the Katra Police, at DPL Reasi. The public, Vaishno Devi Pilgrims can book their complaints on this mobile app. and the website will also host necessary information.
The DGP addressed police darbars in DPL Reasi and DPL Udhampur.
Speaking on these occasion the DGP impressed upon the police personnel to make use of social media and highlight the good work of the police on these sites. He exhorted upon the police personnel to continue their crackdown against bovine smuggling and drug peddlers.
During these darbars, DGP gave a patient hearing to the grievances with regard to pay anomaly, HRA etc absorption of the SPOs who had worked against the militancy. He assured that the genuine grievances brought into his notice will be redressed. He also advised the police personnel to take care of their health by taking balanced diet and taking part in different physical exercises.
DGP also chaired meeting with the senior police officers at Udhampur. During the visit Director General of Police was accompanied by IGP Jammu Dr S D Singh, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Varinder Sharma, AIG Provision, Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, AIG Personal, Mubashir Latifi, AIG Building, Abdul Waheed Shah, AIG Communication, Manoj Kumar Pandita and Private Secretary to DGP Sham Lal Thakur.
