Jammu, Sep 06 (KNS): Peace and order, besides crime detection is must for ensuring security of the people in the State. Jammu and Kashmir Police has a great role to ensure rule of law and provide peaceful atmosphere in all areas of the State.
This was disclosed by Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, while addressing a meeting of senior police officers of Jammu Zone at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today.
The meeting was convened to review law & order, security and crime scenario in Jammu Division. Arrangements for Eid-ul Azha were also discussed in the meeting.
Stressing for greater synergy among all police components, dealing with law & order and security of the people, the DGP said that rule of law is our prime concern which should be ensured at every cost. He asked the officers to liaise with the public for strengthening relations in the province. Frequent meetings by the supervisory officers in their jurisdiction with the people of different communities would help to make the relations more better, said the DGP.
Rajendra said that coordination among the field units at different levels is must to ensure security in the State. He asked to adopt a common strategy while dealing situations and ensure full cooperation to the sister agencies involved in law and order duties.
On the occasion, IGP Jammu Zone, Danish Rana briefed the meeting about the overall situation in the entire province. He said that Law & order situation in the province has remained satisfactory and people from all walks of life are cooperating with the police in maintaining security, peace and order in the region.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
District Superintendents of Police of the Zone through power point presentations apprised the meeting about the law & order scenario in their respective districts. They also apprised about the crime situation and the steps taken to curb the activities of criminals in the region.
DGP asked the officers to supervise personally the work done for maintaining law and order and security in their respective areas. He said that some elements are trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the State and such elements needs to be dealt firmly. Inter district criminals also need to be put under close surveillance and their activities curbed, said that DGP. He asked to enhance communication network and share intelligence inputs for providing better policing to the people.
Discussing the arrangements made for coming Eid-ul-Azha, Rajendra emphasised upon the officers to ensure fruitful arrangements and make the celebrations peaceful. CCTV cameras should be utilized to keep vigil at the places where Eid prayers are held, he added.
Rajendra appreciated Jammu police for ensuring a peaceful Amar Nath Yatra, in coordination with other security agencies.
